HOUSTON – October 8, 2007 - Harris County Tax Assessor - Collector Paul Bettencourt will be making presentations at two major public hearings on Property tax increases tomorrow, October 9, 2007.

   The two major public hearings will be held at the following locations and times:

• Harris County
  Commissioners Court Chambers
  1001 Preston, 9th Floor
  10:00 AM

• City of Houston
  City Hall, Council Chambers
  901 Bagby
  6:00 PM

Property tax appraisal rolls for 2007 are up approximately 12% for both the City of Houston and Harris County. This is the strongest increase in appraisal rolls since Paul Bettencourt has been in office.

Bettencourt is explaining to the governing bodies the impact of property tax appraisal increases on taxpayers.
