PRIMARY ELECTION VOTER ROLL AT 1.88 MILLION
Bettencourt Encourages Voters To Check Their Registration Status Online

HOUSTON - February 22, 2006 - Harris County Voter Registrar Paul Bettencourt announces that his office has compiled and has begun printing the county’s 2006 Primary Election voter roll of 1,879,602 eligible voters for delivery to County Clerk Beverly Kaufman’s office.

“The Harris County Voter Registration Department provided the County Clerk’s office with a voter roll Monday of nearly 1.88 million registered voters for the March 7 primary election,” Bettencourt said. “The entire voter database is available on the Tax Office Web site at www.hcvoter.net, making it easier for registered voters to verify their voter information before going to vote.”

The Harris County Tax Office Web site, www.hcvoter.net, is a complete resource site for registered voter information in Harris County. The Web site contains a database of all registered voters in Harris County and includes downloadable precinct registration, voter rolls and maps plus other information.

“You can’t vote in either primary if you’re not registered to vote on the voter roll prior to the election,” said Bettencourt. “If you can’t check online, give us a call at 713-368- VOTE (8683) if you have a questions about your registration status prior to Election Day.”

The Tax Office will be open the same hours as early voting locations in Harris County through March 3 to assist Beverly Kaufman’s staff handling voter requests at all early voting centers.
