Press Release
Harris County Tax Office Open 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. for May 7 Election HOUSTON – May 05, 2005 - Harris County Voter Registrar Paul Bettencourt urges registered voters to call the Tax Office for voter registration assistance for this year’s second uniform election on Saturday, May 7, 2005. The Voter Registration Department will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. this Saturday. “Generally in May elections taxpayers elected school trustees which set tax rates larger than the combined bills the Tax Office sends out in the fall,” said Bettencourt. “I urge voters to help shape their communities and to make their voice heard this weekend.” The Harris County Tax Office supplied voter registration lists to 53 jurisdictions conducting elections this Saturday. Along with larger school districts like Channelview ISD and Katy ISD, other jurisdictions holding elections Saturday include Spring Branch ISD, Klein ISD, City of Baytown, City of Pasadena, and City of Tomball. For more information, call the Harris County Voter Registration Department at 713-368-VOTE (8683). “Registered voters in Harris County can verify their voter and precinct information online on the Tax Office website at www.hcvoter.net or by phone at 713-368-VOTE before going to vote,” added Bettencourt. “They can also check to confirm whether a particular jurisdiction is holding an election May 7.” The Tax Office website also provides a street guide, which allows a user to look up an address and determine jurisdictional information for a particular address. The online street guide also determines if an address is a residential or commercial property and whether it falls within Harris County. Other jurisdictions conducting elections on May 7 include Aldine ISD, Crosby ISD, City of Deer Park, Goose Creek CISD, Huffman ISD, and City of Jersey Village. A complete list is available on the Tax Office website at www.hcvoter.net. For more information, contact the Harris County Tax Office Voter Registration Department at 713-368-VOTE (8683) or visit the Tax Office website at www.hcvoter.net. |
